At Money with a Purpose, I welcome guest-sponsored content, and other opportunities to introduce our readers to quality products and services. As the blog grows, I get more and more requests for these types of opportunities. In most cases, I turn them down. I will ignore all inquiries if they do not include a company, website, or specifics in the request.
I work hard to protect the integrity and authenticity of my site. For that reason, I am very picky about what gets published here. Most guest posts come from people I know and with whom I have a relationship. They will always get first priority. However, if you have an idea for a guest or sponsored post, please refer to the criteria below before submitting your request.
Posts must be related to the three primary topic areas of the blog:
- Personal finance
- Overcoming adversity
Before writing a post, submit your topic ideas for one of these three areas. I will let you know which, if any, I choose.
The quality of the content is the most important thing. I will have the final decision on whether a submission gets published. Posts should be substantive with a minimum of 1,500 words. Longer posts are preferred.
Posts should be well researched, organized, and include personal stories to illustrate the points. They can be your stories or someone you know. All must be relevant to the content of the article.
Your post should include at least one internal link to an article on my site that relates to your content. You may include no more than three links back to your site. All links must be relevant to the article you're writing or to other content on Money with a Purpose. If you try to slip in more links or put links not relevant to the site or your article, I will not publish and won't accept guest requests in the future.
Posts should be formatted appropriately with H2, H3 subheadings, shorter paragraphs, and checked thoroughly for grammar.
I will not change the content of the post but reserve the right to make minor changes to things like word usage, grammar, etc.
Submit your requests via email or the contact form on this site.
Sponsored content posts are written to drive visitors to a particular website. In some cases, the content may point to a specific product or even a brand. Money with a Purpose accepts sponsored posts and content for a fee.
Sponsored posts must relate to the three primary topic areas of the blog listed above under guest posts. If you submit a request, either via email or the contact page on the site, that doesn't fit with these three areas; I will not accept them. It's unlikely I will even respond to your request.
Before submitting your request, you should be familiar with the tone and style of writing on Money with a Purpose. The tone should be similar to the tone and style of other posts on the site. I reserve the right to edit or reject content that doesn't meet that standard. The final decision to publish is mine alone.
If you'd like me to write the post, I'm happy to do that. If I write the post, the fee will be higher than if you write it.
Here are some further requirements:
- I will identify the post as a sponsored post in the introduction
- One link back to your site will be allowed in the intro. You can add one other somewhere in the content. Links will be nofollow.
- The product or service must be one that I know, use, or think my readers will be interested in and potentially use
- The post should not be a commercial for a product. I will not accept that kind of post. It needs to be a review (or something similar) with the product or service naturally woven into the article.
- If your post is about a product or service, it’s best to offer the reader a special offer for that product or service as one of your links. It could be a discount for purchase, a lower price subscription, or an extended free trial.
Posts will be promoted on all of our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Mix, and Reddit (if it fits in an appropriate sub).
Following along the same lines as the guest and sponsored content, requests for advertising should relate to the three topic areas of the blog. I am even more selective on sponsored advertisements. Products and services must be ones that I either used or ones I believe in. I ignore the vast majority of the requests I get for advertising because they fit the site or its three main categories.
I've worked hard to build the reputation of this blog. I will not compromise that to make a buck. If you have read these qualifications and are confident your content, product, service or brand would be a good fit, email me at Fred [at] money with a purpose [dot] com.
